We've stayed at the Rex many times, for the usual reasons: atmosphere, wine, location, staff, price. Our last visit found us in a room too small for two small people [had to lift the suitcase over the bed to get it into the room], on the street [therefore very noisy], too hot [and not 'coolable'], and relatively expensive [$450 for 2 ...
We stayed at the Hotel Rex for two nights. The room was TINY! There was barely enough room to walk. No chairs - just a bed, dresser, a night stand and another table. TV was all of 14 inches. Working was uncomfortable to say the least. It was the hottest day of the year so far and there is NO Air Conditioning (just an oscillating fan).
I'm a travel agent so I get to see alot of different hotels. This Hotel has won my heart. The Staff is like family. The rooms are clean, airy, well appointed and I have to say one the most important things to me when staying in San Francisco is water flow in the bathroom! They have water pressure like you wouldn't believe. Make sure ...
rooms were small but clean. the service was excellent and we were in the heart of downtown, just down the street from the cable cars and a couple of blocks from union square. Will definitely be staying here again!!!
After flying 6 hours and taking a $55. cab ride from the airport to the hotel. The last thing i wanted was to carry 90lbs of luggage up 3 flights of stairs because the hotels' elevator is out. I expected the hotel to have someone who would carry its guests bags up and down those stairs. The resturant in the hotel was great along with the ...
If you are looking for a home away from home in San Francisco, look no further than the Rex. The hotel is comfortable and the staff informal but extremely helpful. There was not one hotel staff member who did not greet us in a friendly manner at any time during our eight day stay.
Our room was not huge, but we didn't feel cramped and it ...

We'll never stay anywhere else!

Loved, loved, loved Hotel Rex! Not like your home away from home, much better! The staff was friendly and helpful. They made great suggestions for dinner each night (places we would never have found on our own), offered free wine in their trendy bar each night, and even gave us complimentary tickets to the San Fran Museum of Modern Art. The room ...
The Hotel Rex was an excellent place to stay in San Francisco. Their rooms were lovely, and they had a nice bar/lounge area which was quite comfortable. They also had a restaurant with creative and tasty items to choose from. Even better, it wasn't terribly expensive (compared to the other restaurants which were around.
There was a slight ...

Rex for the Romantic Weekend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
The Hotel Rex is a small hotel 1 1/2 blocks from Union Square. We loved the cozy atmosphere. While the the hotel is loacted very near major shopping, club, and theater loactions it is far enough away to be quiet.
We spent the weekend in SF with a group of friends that stayed at a trendier looking, but really noisy hotel. Our island of calm ...
