OK hotel, Humphrey's Restaurant Fanstastic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/09
The hotel is OK, older, smaller rooms and would have got 3 stars if it wasn't for the 50% off Entree's coupon they give for Humphrey's Restaurant. Plus side is the hotel has a nice pillow top bed, refrig. and microwave in room. We usually stay at the Hilton Torrey Pines or The Lodge but the LPGA was going on so those were out. What ...
I had lunch there on Wednesday September 16, 2009. I placed an order to go and when I opened my food I saw a baby roach crawling on the sandwich purchased. The Food and Beverage manager provided an insincere apology but insisted they did not have roaches. I am embarrassed to even type this, but I felt it was important to post and communicate this incident. If you eat there, be very careful!
Online, there were room rates for $125/night. I printed the page to check-in with. I was not allowed that rate at the counter. The best I could get was $179/night. I was told I could use their free wireless internet to book it online. This amenity functioned very poorly, cutting out constantly. I tried this for an hour at the hotel lounge. ...
Service is subpar. Almost like they're trained to think "the customer is wrong until proven otherwise." The only thing in favor of this hotel is its location.

"Vacation" Inflation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/08
We had an unexpected extended stay (not a vacation) due to problems with university housing and the rates continually went up.
Pros: Clean room; nice staff (excepting one haughty desk clerk); safe feeling area; well lit; pretty garden with waterfall and fish pond, easy walk to restaurants and stores and UCSD
Cons: Price hikes; much of the ...

Would Stay Here Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/07
We arrived for a wedding weekend with about 30 family members. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were great. We had the rehearsal dinner catered by the hotel restaurant and a good time was had by all!

Don't stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/07
The "Supervisors" are not really trained in customer service. We were scheduled to stay for 4 days but for some reason they kept checking us out each day and then we had to check back in each day because "the rates changed". They also charged us a $75 penalty for canceling on the same day but we didn't cancel on the same day ...

Perfect place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/07
We really enjoyed this hotel. The pool area had a tropical feel and was very pretty. The grounds were immaculately kept. The service was wonderful. We stayed in the newest building and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was very large! It was a convenient location to La Jolla, San Diego and all of the major attractions. ...

Great location if you're visiting UC San Diego.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/06
Great location right across from UC San Diego campus. Easy access from the freeway. Room nicely decorated. Bathroom very small; there was a little notch cut into the door so it could open without hitting the toilet! Only one sink. Everything very clean and updated though. Very pleasant breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Food good and service ...
