The inn-keepers greeted us with wine & cheese. (As we don't drink, they quickly whisked out bubbly grape juice). We learned about the history of the area and Matthew gave us lots of sightseeing & dining recommendations; told us about Williamston's being the upstream extent of the Lost Colony's 1597 inland exploration and gave us a guided tour of town. Oh yeah, the room and breakfast were super.

Centrally isolated charm. We came for two days and stayed for four. We could take day trips to Wright Brothers Memorial, plantation, Morningstar Refuge, Nature Conservancy lands, Roanoke paddling ... we even drove to New Bern.
