With due respect to the previous reviewer, as Uma Paro was still not open at the time they posted their review, they have obviously confused it with another property. On the contrary, the food, and the property, will probably be the best you will find in Bhutan once the place opens on Nov 1 2004.

Great food, great location, great hotel. Plenty to see and do, guides very helpful and knowledgeable. A really good base to see Bhutan from.

I stayed at Uma Paro in the first week they were open at the beginning of November. I also svisited another "5 Star Property" in Bhutan the following week before I left for India. I can say that my experience at Uma Paro was outstanding. The other property totally missed the mark. I was amazed after 10 days of Travel in Bhutan COMO Hotels was able to pull something that off in this remote and beautiful kingdom.

I was shown around the hotel but sadly didn't stay there. The normal rooms are unexceptional but such a huge improvement on what is available elsehwere it's worth going for them. The suites are amazing though... a real treat. The hotel is expensive but worth it in order to get modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. The alternative - the Olathang Hotel is too uncomfortable!
