The forest is far enough from downtown Charleston to give hikers a sense of being completely secluded from civilization. The trails are well-maintained at least three seasons (can't speak about winter) and provide a great diversity of challenge. There are many opportunities to photograph wildlife and plant life. There is also a nice pool to cool off after a long hike and shelters are available for picnicking. Highly recommended.

Kind of out of the way, but enjoyable once you get there. The pool is nice.
