The course was well takin care of and it was a lot of fun. The only downside is the train cars in the background.

This course really is awful. I think Berry Hills has the best course in the area.

There are much better choices
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/05
Berry Hills is has the best course in the Charleston area. Kanawha Country Club is very nice. Big Bend is not only the worst in the area, it's one of the worst I've ever seen anywhere. Shawnee and Scarlet Oaks are both nearby and offer a much better experience.

Stay Away

The roads to this remotely located course are just horrible. The course is not as carefully groomed as other public courses in the area. And, yes, the constantly blaring train horns from the coal trains are enough to send chills up your spine.

Bad idea
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
I traveled bad roads and endured unsightly junked vehicles to get here. The train horns from the adjacent railroad are extremely annoying. The property is hazardous, as I stepped into a gopher hole and nearly broke my ankle. The private clubs in West Virginia are extremely affordable and offer a much better alternative. Even the Coonskin and other public courses are better than this one, and they're conveniently located!

Not great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/05
I must have passed a hundred junk piles to get to this place, including junked vehicles just feet from the entrance. Don't bother. There are no amenities. The course itself is poorly maintained.
