  • Fifth Quarter and Shoney's overall
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/07
In the early 1980's I was a general manager for the Fifth Quarter. I worked in Chattanooga, Charleston, Nashville, Louisville and Lexington. I was very young and the first female GM at the age of 22. I'm sitting here discussing this time of my life with my husband and remembering what a fine restaurant and company that I worked for, one ...

  • In my top 10 worst restaurant experiences!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/06
My last visit to the Fifth Quarter will be my LAST visit. The service was slow and terrible, orders were mixed up, food was not cooked to order, and prices were too high for what we got. I complained to the manager, but did not receive satisfaction. Our bill was reduced slightly by the manager but not enough to make me want to go back.

My cell phone was stolen at this restuarant.
Suspect that it was an employee because staff told me many conflicting stories. First, I was told that no one turned one in to management and then I was told that it was found and someone else claimed it and then I was told that a waiter found it and put it up for me to claim it and then it just ...

  • WAY TOO EXPENSIVE
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/05
The atmosphere is nice. Thats about it. The prices are way way too high especially for the quality of the food. This place closed once before ...it should take a look at that option again.

  • Too much $ compared to local restaurants
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/05
I was shocked to find today that Fifth Quarter had raised their prices by 10-25% or more per item The salad bar, while good, has been raised in price from $7.95 to $8.95 with no new items added and it does not include anything other than the basic lettuce and vegetables. The chicken breast dinner such as the Teriyaki Chicken raised from $8.95 to ...

The increase in prices along with the new charge for selection of the salad bar option has increased the cost of a meal at 5th Quarter (without drinks, appetizer or desert) by 41.8%. They have therefore priced themselves out of the market for my restaurant dollar.

  • OK for a busload of school kids
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/21/05
One reviewer admires Fifth Quarter as an alternative to chain restaurants, but it is in fact a part of the decidedly downscale Shoney's chain. It would be a real shame to eat here when you have many finer choices in walking distance. Charleston's best steakhouse is the Chop House, right across the street from Fifth Quarter in the Town ...

  • Nice Alternative to 'Chain' Steakhouses
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/04
Decided to take a chance to meet with family in Charleston, at this 'half-way' point for dinner. Called the day before to see if they would accept reservations (since we were all driving 2+/- hours from different directions to get there) however was told only reservations were for 8 or more. OK, we would take our chances. We arrived and ...
