This is not a good museum for children. My son was scolded by a museum gaurd and told, "Don't get so close to the exhibits." I've never heard of such a thing. He wasn't touching anything, poor kid. He really likes glass art. This is not a museum I would recommend to families.
The works of art were limited and not that interesting. The hotshop where they make a piece of glass art that a child visitor had designed was ok and entertaining. We did feel that the $10 admission was a little steep(it was discounted because an exhibit was closed). Especially since the bridge of glass that connects the museum to the city(which is ...
We got in free for the museum day. Had we had to pay the full price we would have been a bit less happy. There wasn't very much too see when you looked at the price compared to some other more famous museums, however the workshop was very interesting. As opposed to the last comment we found the stairs nice and they just went around and ...

not much to see

I didn't like that I had to walk down many flights of stairs & didn't like going back up those long flights of stairs. A woman employee who was staring at me commented that it was interesting that I wasn't using reading classes. I thought she was going to say something about the camera hanging on my neck. She followed me a bit which I really disliked. Creepy. After that I just didn't like anything about the whole affair.

I loved watching the artists making the glass pieces, we have a place to seat and enjoy, while they are explaining what they were doing. =)

Would go back to see the glass blowers, but that's it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/07
The glass blowing artists were great and very educational, however the displayed pieces of glasswork was a disgrace. They have more pieces of glass in the Swiss than they do in the actual glass museum, SAD!!! Very disappointed that they're wasn't more to the museum part. You could walk through the whole museum in less than 15 minutes.

I loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
I thought this was a great experience. I'm not really into much glass art but I found it to be beautiful. A great place for children to have "hands-on" participation. The Art Museum was wonderful and an eye-opening event. I loved it! I would visit again and hope to have a piece made.

Tacoma has so much to offer with the growth of the downtown. The Museum is world class. The whole family enjoyed the visit. Fun and educational.

Visiting Museum Of Glass Tacom Wa.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/01/06
This is one of the finest displays of glass blowing I have ever seen. It is while with the trip to Tacoma alone if you have any interest in the Art of Glass Blowing.

Don't expect to find Chihuly Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/05
This museum is a great opportunity to watch glass blowing in action. If you are expecting works by Dale Chihuly, though, he is exclusively in the Tacoma Art Museum, Union Station, and the Bridge of Glass. Other Contemporary (non-glass) art may be found at the Museum of Glass as well, which may be a surprise for those seeking a glass-only ...
