The zoo has lots of different animals, some you can't see just anywhere. It's a nice place to have fun and enjoy a day with the family. It's kept clean and the habitats are well designed.

Fun but expensive

Mr Caldwell was a great man who loved children. He left money to keep his zoo available to all children. A few yrs after he died a nephew decided to charge. No longer is it a place where families can visit together. A place where you can take relatives when they come to down. Frequent visits are gone for the middle class. But if you have the money and there are just two of you it is a wonderful place
The zoo was trashy and dated. I didn't care for the mice in the cafe either! The employees acted like they prefered that you were somewhere else.

i really love this zoo! we like to go a few times a year. it is very very clean, all the animals are happy and healthy. my kids absolutely love it. the cost is a little steep, but the wild bird walk about is almost worth it in its self. you get to walk around a bunch of wild birds and feed them. i think that was the kids favorite part. i love it. we are actually ganna take a lil trip there today, and i cant wait!!

It's a nice little zoo in a small town. Worth seeing if you like zoos. We've been to zoos all over the country, so to compare, it just doesn't. A few years ago, it was free to get in the place, and it was perfect for that. They have regularly added to their admission fees, so that it is now about as much to visit as the really nice ...

Good zoo, nice assortment of animals. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back there. Would definitely recommend it if you find yourself in Tyler, TX. The tickets are pretty affordable, but not the best.
The zoo is great. However, expect a lot of walking. Most of the walking will be done going uphill, and given the Texas heat, bring plenty of water and hydration because there is only one vending area. The landscaping is pretty, and it's worth the visit.

We LOVED it! My 5 year old didn't want to leave and I was actually able to keep my 1 year-old in the stroller! He was calm and didn't fuss. Great for the family...I like that the walk didn't web out like most places. You were able to walk and continue on through the end without having to turn back around to find another animal on a ...
I live in Tyler and my family visits this zoo at least twice a year. Its not a huge zoo which is good on hot days because you don't really get worn out. It doesn't take ALL day to see everything which is nice. Its a very clean zoo and has a lot of nice open exibits. My 3 year old son absolutely LOVES the wild bird walk-about where you can ...

When you visit Tyler, this zoo is a must. We have been there over and over from the time that it was just a small circle of monkeys to the recent addition of penguins. Children will really enjoy feeding the various animals, the ducks and the birds for sure. There is also a wonderful area to observe the animals from Africa while having a snack in ...
