If you are visiting West Texas, I think this is a great spot to head to. I went with college age students and we all loved it. You won't experience anything like it in big cities, so it is definitely worth to go at least once when you are in Lubbock.
The bakery is great, filled with homemade food and lots of random touristy stuff. Make sure you check their website so you know when picking season is.
We love the apple orchard and go out to pick apples at least once a season. We load up all the cousins and make a day of it. A short trip from where we stayed in Lubbock, we truly enjoyed lazily walking through the myriad rows of several varieties of apples. We've enjoyed pick-your-own trips before, and this one as well.
