  • Museum has not reopened since Hurricane Ike

    Although the artifact collections were not damaged, the building is in need of multiple repairs after Hurricane Ike. The museum's offices and collections have relocated to 123 Rosenberg (25th Street), Suite 4157 in downtown Galveston. New exhibits are being planned in a new space.

  • See Ancient Rome in Old Galveston

    This building is a wonderful fanciful recreation full of architectural details one would see even in ancient Rome. It has a barrel vault with wonderful classical plaster ornamentation. It is worth going to see just for itself. However getting to see the the giant prism for the lighthouse lamp is a treat as well. Best of all there is no charge. ...

  • Lots of History

    This musuem is FREE to go to, and is conviently located in The Strand district, on the side of Galveston Island furthest from the Gulf of Mexico. Small building, but tons of stuff. It has so much information on the Big Hurricane's that have hit Galveston. The biggest selection of information is on the terrible 1900 Storm that destroyed ...
