Our family just got back from the Forbidden Caverns. We enjoyed the formations, however, the tour lasted only 30 min and not the full hour as expected. Does anyone know if the bats were alive? We wondered if there were dead bats glued to the wall. The whole story of the Indian Princess seemed a little hokey and far out. The tour was slightly ...

  • Pretty interesting
    By AmberT, 07/01/08
You get to go on a tour of a live cavern (live because it is still changing due to water). They have light shows and some beautiful formations in the cavern. It was worth the trip and it wasn't very expensive.

  • My first trip to Gatlinburg
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/08
This was my first ever trip to Gatlinburg. And while Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas have so MUCH to see and do, this little treasure is a MUST SEE! It can be pretty close quarters down there, but, it's such a great experience. If you get the chance to see it? DO!

  • Melinda is a good tour guide
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/07
The cave is owned and operated by local folks. I have been coming to East Tenn for thirty years. I went to the caverns for the first time this weekend. You think you have seen everything until you take the one hour tour. The rock formations are real cool. The tour does require a one half mile winding walk. The path is good and lighted ok. The cave ...

  • Pretty but not the best cave tour.
    By Mangled Fairy, 10/22/06
I've been to many cave tours throughout the years and this was by far the worst. It was still enjoyable. A lot of walking, so bring comfy shoes!

The good side is that it's a pretty set of caverns, good exercise, and it wasn't a crowded attraction.

The down side is that it was a fairly long drive (though the drive took us by the ...

  • A very nice place
    By Robert, 09/12/06
I like the tour very mutch, the guide was very funny. He tell the story of the forbidden caverns very good. A little tip on the back to the road 411, if hungry and like fish stop by the little resturant by the road, you can capture your own meal or let the owner do it, in the fishpond, the best grill trout I ever eat.

  • Won't go back
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/06
We went on vacation this past June to the Forbidden Caverns in Seiverville, TN and was greatly disappointed in the presentation. First off the audio presentation was very uninteresting to the children and not very accurate.

There is also a bare footprint in the cavern floor that the tour guide passed over as if it wasn't there and did not ...

  • This was good!
    By JasonH, 07/13/06
This is a great place to visit while in Eastern Tennessee. It beats the heck out of the commercialized kiddie attractions & gift shops in town. It's a little better than Natural Bridge Caverns back home in Texas, because you get to explore a little more of the cave. Although, our tour guide was only about 14 years old & sounded like he was reading from a script the whole time. But, this is a fantastic sight none-the-less.

  • great getaway from all the tourons!
    By paul, 06/06/06
Charming, fairly isolated attraction that was wonderful as there just weren't that many people there! I used to live on English Mountain and would pass said caverns twice each day to and from work in Gatlinburg. When you live in a tourist trap, you never do all the things that are available to you. Now, 500 miles removed from East Tennessee, ...

    By CARMINE, 05/31/06
We as a family enjoy trips like this 1. On this trip to our 1st time visiting one of Tennessee's 3,000+ caverns we encountered our 1st pigmy bat. Just hang'in around as we made our way on by. We have been to a lot of these underground wonders; but this was our 1st encounter w/ a bat. We had a great time w/ my sister's family as well. It was their 1st time EVER. Wonderful place and i hope the bat gets to stay.
