Don't Waste Your MONEY!We visted here July 2008. It was pitch black and we could not see anything. The website pix must have been taken with special lighting that isn't available for the tours. Spend your money elsewhere. We wish we had!OVERALL

Not a tourist trapAs most all the others have reported, This is a great family outing. The trip in and out of the cave is about an hour. The climb back to the surface is steep and is not for everyone. I have had total knee replacement surgery and my traveling companion has breathing problems. We made it just fine. This cave is worth the trip!My husband had visited the Lost Sea many, many years ago but this was my first visit. Be prepared to walk alot. The cave itself is so intreging that you do not notice how much you are walking until its time to walk back to the entrance. The ascent back up from the boat ride is not for everyone. We go here all the time!I live in East TN and we have been to the lost sea alot. We always love it though, because it is always different. The people there are usually very nice, and the tours are fun. This IS NOT a tourist trap. It is actually an underground lake, and they have guided tours through the caves leading to the "sea". The Hike Is Worth ItThe Lost Sea is a guided tour through multiple caverns - some natural, some blasted - of a cave in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The goal is the underground lake at the bottom and a trip on the glass bottom boat.

A totally different experienceMy wife and I visited The Lost Sea with our 3-year-old daughter.
Unfortunately, this was 2 days after she had walked all through Ruby Falls and Rock City. She decided she didn't want anything more to do with walking through caves or rocks, so I had to carry her the 1/2 mile or so down and the 1/4 mile up.

Excellent Choice of Things To DoI took my 3 sons to The Lost Sea about 15 years ago, and I am finally making the trip back there in a few weeks with a friend. Also an awesome cave!My husband and I went to The Lost Sea last year on our way home from vacation. I expected only a boat ride on this lost sea. But you also get a tour through a very different cave that is steeped in history. The boat ride at the end of the tour is awesome!! This place really appeals on a number of levels!I first visited this place 40 years ago. I had not heard of it, but the signs just sounded so exotic -- "Sail the Lost Sea" that I could not resist.
I expected another 'tacky' tourist rip-off, but it was the opposite. It was something so unique that I remember it to this day, and I am taking my grandchild to see it next summer!
