We love the peacefulness we found at Bear Butte State Park. We loved hiking up the Butte, and seeing the Buffalo. We are looking forward to exploring the Butte in the snow this November.

OVERALL
A quiet place

We visited Bear Butte in May. It's really a lone mountain, not a butte, that's very sacred to the Lakota. It's a beautiful, quiet place. We took the trail to the top, but it was quite a trial with two small children. In some places it was very easy walking, in others extremely rocky with a sharp drop-off. Junior-high age kids and ...
we must put an end the expansion of the drunken biker orgy. many of these peop0le have no reguard for life. let alone land... this is very sacred ground. now they want to build a huge biker bar. with a giant statue of a native american in prayer. the name of the bar....... "Sacred ground".
