  • Best stop on our whole vacation!
    By Robert, 09/07/09
I am not a horse owner but wanted to see this anyway. My wife and I stopped by to catch the 3pm tour which they do not run during summer months due to the heat so we came back the next day. This was the best $$$ we spent on our whole vacation. The horses are incredible and the tour provided some real great history and data not only on the horses, ...

  • Awesome Wild Horse Sanctuary!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/09
We took the 9:00a.m. tour July 5th and it was awesome. We got right up close to many horses. Most mares had foals that were adorable. The views were breathtaking. We learned a lot from the guide. Well worth the time and money for the tour. The gift shop has a nice supply of items for mementos of the trip also.

  • LOVED THE WILD HORSES AND THEY ARE WILD HORSES!
    By sweeday, 09/17/08
Spanish Sulphur Mustang stallion, Don Juan was absolutely beauutiful seen him through binoculars he was a little to far away for pictures. Some people are so picky, I looked through binoculars and saw wild horses roaming way up in the mountain tops we saw hundreds of horses running free eeverywhere, along with quite a few of them resting by the ...

  • Too Expensive
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
"Wild" horses seems to be stretching it. No pricing was available via web site. At $50/person for a 2 hr tour (which ran closer to 3 hrs), it was tremendously overpriced. Interesting scenery (like we saw everywhere in SD); Indian ceremonial grounds; petroglyphs; threat of rattle snakes; and seeing beautiful horses that seemed more tame ...

  • Will go back
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/08
I visited in Aug 06 and loved it. Met stallion, Don Juan, who is really awesome. I supported him with my contribution and will continue to do so in order to get updates on him in particular. Some people have to realize that with a range this large it is the luck of the draw how many horses you will see. I'm just glad I got to get out and ...

  • Ripped Off !!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/08
Advertizing was very misleading. For a non-profit organization they charged tax on an excessive amount of money for a sparse tour.
Not worth the time or money.

  • Worthy cause - tour so-so
    By Beth, 05/22/08
I love horses and have been interested in mustangs since my youth so I was very excited to see wild horses in their element. The tour itself is OK, the guide told us stories (some tall ones!) of local history which were fine. We couldn't get very close to the horses, because one fellow recently had been kicked and that changed their rules, ...

  • Misleading
    By Doug, 05/22/08
I will start by saying it is wonderful to see someone who is making a safe place for these horses to live. We were mislead by being told and advertised that we would see hundreds of horses in the wild during our 2 hour tour. We were driven to only one area where about 50+ horses where fenced in, we were allowed to get off the bus and stand ...

  • Very Awesome!!!!!!!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/07
We took our two children here on vacation to South Dakota (age 4 and 7) and they had a blast! From viewing the new foals and petting the kindergarten foals, to the scenery and views, to the dusty bus ride and tour across the terrain of the sanctuary. Tour guide was just great and told the kids stories (some were tall tales), educated on the ...

  • Help save Mustangs
    By michclw, 08/07/07
This was my first visit, honest :-) I am not an EMPLOYEE but I LOVED THIS !!! This sanctuary is supported by the tours, gift shop and foal sales. It is not commerical, it is self relying. Sure, I could have wasted my money on something else in the Black Hills, but knowing my $$ help to save horses was worth every penny. The tour was interesting, ...
