Wonderful alternative to Cleveland Zoo! Erie Zoo is so enjoyable because it doesn't take all day to see everything. It's small enough that you are not exhausted from walking from one end to the other in the blazing sun! There are many places to stop and relax in the shade and enjoy the day. And the carousel was such a nice surprise and ...

Small Zoo
By miclevi4, 08/20/07
The zoo was small, it took us an hour to get around it. But we thought it was really nice and the price was great. It was just right for the kids to get around. I didn't have to rent a stroller for my 3 year old.

Awesome for toddlers
By Mary Ann D, 06/22/07
The Erie Zoo is the perfect size for toddlers. It's just the right amount of walking and animals to hold the attention of a busy toddler. The children's zoo is great and a ride on the miniture train is a must! Join up to become a member and goes as often as you want during the membership year AND get discounts at other participating ...

A sad sight
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/29/07
I am not against zoos if they seem to be keeping happy animals, but I saw some pretty miserable looking animals when I visited.
The cheetah was walking the same figure 8 pattern over and over - it had actually created a path in the grass; the gorilla and orangutans looked depressed; the polar bear was clearly in a terrible mental state as it ...

Erie Zoo is amazing.
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/21/06
I'd like to respond to the person who wrote that the female gorilla looked bored and sad. She is most likely sad as her mate died in March of 2005. The zookeepers had found a new mate for her in November 2005, but he died in transit to Erie. They found another male who died in May 2005 being prepared for transit. I imagine I'll be ...

Small, but kid-friendly
By wyldjaguar, 07/23/06
A very small park (15 acres), the Erie Zoo is a nice zoo to take the little ones in your life. Facing obvious space constraints, the zoo offers a nice array of specimens in a uniquely laid-out, limited area. Exhibits of note - the powers-that-be have done a nice job transforming part of their older, main building into a home for orangutans and ...

Bigger than you'd think
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/25/06
Erie isn't a big place, but what a great zoo... They've got great exibits and much more than you'd think. They just added a whole new kid-area with tons of activities. It's a place you could spend the day. Reasonable ticket prices, decent food, Oh, and don't forget to ride the train!!

I still love the zoo!
By Anne, 04/30/06
The Erie Zoo was always one of my favorite spots to visit during my yearly summer trips to visit my Grandparents as a child and now that I'm grown up I still love going. It's not as spectacular as some of the big city zoos, but it's got something they don't have- the train. It's fun to take a train ride through the zoo, ...
