Our dinner at this cafe was a disaster. The cafe reeked of some floral incense or perfume -- every bite of our food tasted like room deodorizer. Service ranged from indifferent to rude; we did not feel welcomed. Perhaps a smile or two from the wait staff would be in order. Lastly, one of our party ended up very ill after eating the scallops at dinner.

I have lived in Ashland 20 years and have frequented Lela's many times in the past 3 years. Last night we dined there, first time in about a month. I was shocked! Not only has the menu changed (and not in a positive way), but the prices are now sky high...my chicken was over cooked with too much sauce. The quality was equal to a local Italian ...

Maybe you don't like Eggplant, or perhaps you have never tried it! Lela's has an Eggplant Napoleon -- or something to that effect. It is delicious -- layers of eggplant with spinach and other vegs between set on a base of polenta, mixed with shallots, etc. that was a delight in itself. I would go again -- just for this meal.
