I was disappointed at what we found in our bucket. Not alot of good stones were found to be cut. Maybe we just got a bad bucket. I do remember we had two stones cut and I thought the cutting charges were high compared to another gem mine we found in the near by area. Will we go back? Maybe, but most likely not
We loved this place. Stayed an extra day in area to mine here. James was wonderful. Did a salted bucket first then switched to the native. It was such a blast. I was so excited when I found a ruby of a life time. Found lots of others, but boy was this a great find. The shop was very helpful in making decisions on what to have cut and what ...
Staff was terrific in identofying at flume by James and in Gift Shop by ladies. Son had 3 stones cut and set in ring for surprise birthday gift for daughter. It was beautiful. I'm ready to return but unsure of carrying buckets, which son-in-law and grandaughter did most of time. Next step wanting to buy lapidary equipment. Then I suppose it will be learning to make settings. Thanks to all of you.
everyone was so helpful , in understanding what to look for, and the look on my Daughty face when she found her first ruby. great experience, if you have a chance go. also we had a couple of gems cut from them and they look great, thanks for the great time the drive from kansas was worth it and recommend mason mountain mine to anyone thats planning on going to area. thanks again.
James was so helpful last year and the mine was awesome!!! we are traveling from a harsh iowa winter to north carolina to mason mountain mine in april... we went in april last year, left the snow and ice behind and enjoyed the warmth of the north carolina sun and the warmth and hospitality of the folks at mason mountain.. we found ALOT of very ...
James and the other staff members were very helpful, both at the covered flume lines and inside the gift shop, where they identified all of my finds. I started out wanting to do the "dig your own" native option, but after two buckets, my arms were hurting from shoveling so I bought a $30 salted bucket. Boy, did I get a lot of stuff out ...
I found so much here, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, ameythists, etc. so much that I had to add air to my tires on my car to get back to Nashville, TN. The staff are now like family and I can only hope they will be happy to see me again and again. The staff was so helpful that I felt that I was a avid bonified ROCK HOUND when I left. I had had a ...
I have been to most of the other mines in the area and found this one to be the most rewarding. The soil washes very easily as opposed to the thick clay material of some others and we got a shoebox full of gemstones! Actually a bootbox full! We bought one $30 bucket (salted) which had some great finds, and also a $50 bucket (salted) which had ...
I like the fact that you could do a salted bucket (which we did first with our grandaughter)or the native buckets, which we did for 2 half days.Very helpful people and and a lot of fun.Went to rose creek but we liked mason mtn better.Heard a lot of negative things about sheffel mine so we didn.t check it out.Lots of fun.
