We were actually in the area to explore Cape Lookout and just followed the Fort sign one morning. So glad we did! We have 2 sons and I don't usually get jazzed about forts, but this is unique and beautifully designed. Each of the rooms also houses nicely displayed historic information. GO!

This place was so cool! My kids were really into it! We were there during the Pyrate invasion in beaufort so they were already into the war thing. Bravo!

It was a great thing for me and my family to do we have a young son he didn't understand it all but even he too was fascinated by different things you get to see and I am so glad we went. It's something all ages can enjoy.

we always drop by the fort i love all the great different areas for photography i did most of my sons senior picture there every time you turn around ther are different colors shapes and texters this is a photographer dream location

Fort Macon was a great experience. I would very highly reccomend it to others. While you are their the park ranger may come and give a speech; and shoot of a real gun but with paper as the bullet. This place was a complete and utter blast! The fort was filled with historic artifacts and information. The kids loved it and my wife and I really enjoyed the history lesson. I would go back in a second! The view of Beaufort Inlet was fantastic.

Optical illusion! You will know what I'm talking about when you get there. I kept looking for the fort as we came down the road to the park. When you get there you will be amazed at how it was set up. Can't tell you anymore or it will spoil the surprise.

It's so historic but yet so fasinating.The views surrounding are breath taking

I was fascinated by Fort Macon...its history is presented in fun and interactive ways and lots of information can be obtained in its various rooms without having to read everything (therefore great for kids and people like me who usually are not that interested in "museums"). The setup of the fort is amazing as most of it is "hidden." Also, the state park includes a section of beach and other activities throughout the year.
