I had been to this academy as a child and thought that it would be nostalgic to rereturn some 20yrs later, to be sadly dissapointed. After calling to request a tour for two, and then givin a price and time of appt, to find that once I had paid and had already been given a horse ,that I was was now going out on a group tour of six. I did not wish to ...
I have been associated with Lakewood Stables for 3 years. In thier defense, The owner of Lakewood Stables has been investing time and money on improving conditions of the barns and surrounding areas. It is the town that has set up road blocks for future improvements, which are still in the works. I think the surrouding neighbors and the town of ...
There is nothing I dislike about Lakeview except maybe that it is a little small. But for anyone who doesn't have a lot of time and lives local....it is super convenient. The people there are awesome and from what I can see the trainers are adored by everyone especially the kids.
It's the kind of place you never want to leave. The least snobby place I have ever ridden at.

I rode there for a few months and would not suggest anyone riding or boarding their horses there. The facility is not well maintained and management does not take proper care of the horses. The trails are usually in poor condition, putting both rider and horse at risk. Owners are so concerned with turning a profit to the point of using injured ...
I love the fact that they actually listen to what a rider has to say. I have been in a bad accident while riding and I am just now getting back up on the saddle. James is the best trail guide that anyone could ever ask for. Instead of him telling you what you are going to do at any part on the trail he asks if you want to. Not all trail guides do this and I appreciate it more then I think he even knows.

These horses don't wear Prada
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/08
Lakeside has the best trails in Nassau, possibly on LI. It has 2 lakes, 1 sand hill and a roller coaster trot path that is both safe and fun. If you need your mount beautifully tacked and valium smooth, ride a carousel. Unlike Jamaica Bay, it is a hard dirt ride with scenery, unlike Van Cort, it is a circuit ride with a dozen cut offs that go up, ...

My second home=]
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/29/08
This place is obviously not the best looking barn on LI, but when you think about, remember we are in west hempstead! Every1 has been putting this place down for years, some say our horses are too thin, but we get our horses from a past of abuse, and starvation. We have been taking care of this place so the horse are fairly treated and get a chance ...

Riding lessons for girls
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/07
We love this place!! The Lessons are fantastic and the people are very nice!! I took lessons as a kid in the 1970's and now my daughter takes lessons there too! We have so much fun and the photographer is wonderful. There's nothing better for little girls who love horses.
The place is clean, the stables are well cared for and the horse are beautiful. Take a minute to go there!!

New Head Trainer !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
I heard they have a new head trainer so I gave this place another try. Wow! What a difference! She's really good! And I was just told there's another new trainer too -- give this place a try. It doesn't LOOK so nice - but the school horses are happy and well taken care of...and BTW, the "boney", sick looking horses you may see there are RESCUED from abusive places and brought back to helth! I recommend this place.
