The New York State Museum has interesting exhibits describing the history of various parts of New York state. Its an interesting place to learn about the different aspects of NY. One warning. If you go during the summer on a weekend, check if there is an event going on. If there is, the road will be blocked and parking is difficult for handicap folks.

The museum is a great place to visit with children ages 3-100! I loved coming here as a kid and now I love taking my two daughters, ages 3 and 6.

This was the second time I visited this exhibit. Very moving for me, it brought tears to my eyes. One cannot understand the destruction until you see the exhibit. I suggest everyone to visit. It's free.

The 9/11 exhibit is the best part of the museum (and saddest at the same time). There's a nice merry-go-round upstairs for the kids. You can even listen to a local husband and wife comedy Podcast while you are driving to the museum located at http://www.podcastgalaxy.com.
