Candlelight Stroll worth the visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/07
I went with friends to the Candlelight Stroll Dec 2006 and loved it. I recommend it to all ages. I felt like a kid all over again. I am looking forward to going again this year.
I liked the community aspect of this historic site. Unlike some others, the pace was low key. Docents were well-informed. The availibility of a variety of building from difference centuries is great. Nice preservation work going on.
We parked and went inside. Price was way to high for what one received...We looked around and decided..NO WAY...lower your prices and add more activity...We thought is was something upper Canada Village where people actually dressed and worked like the old days....This place was dormant..nothing was viewing old houses which is great if the price wasnt so high for so little

Three of us spent our holiday visiting the east coast early in Oct, Strawberry Banke was certainly on our list of places to see. We found it all quite avarage compared to other historic settlements we had visited thru the country. After a long drive, we got there at 3:00 pm and after paying the full admission, discovered that only a handful of ...

Weekend of August 19th
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/06
I went with my family, two adults an 18 year old teenager and two children to look at the craft fair that was advertised in the paper. Only to find out that we would have to pay $30.00 for the priviledge of looking. If we had also wanted to look at the houses it would have been $45.00!!!! I would have loved to have strolled around the tents and ...
If you like the atmosphere at Williamsburg, you will love this. Smaller and more personal, it really captures that Eastern Seaboard flavour of post Revolutionary America.

Stop and smell the roses
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/05
Strawberry Banke is living history, but one must take the time to stop and take a good look around. Follow the maps given to you at the ticket counter, and appreciate the beauty of times past. If you are seeking thrills, and fast times, move on, this isn't the place for you. If you enjoy stepping back in time, slowing down, and learning about history, then it is well worth the stop.

History With A Sea Breeze
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/05
The living history actors do a wonderful job of taking you back to various eras of Portsmouth's past. The fact that Strawberry Banke isnt just one snapshot it history gives one the opportunity to relive the development of the eclectic community of Portsmouth. Strawberry Banke's proximity to Lafeyette Park and downtown Portsmouth make for a rewarding, fun filled day.
