I was very surprised and delighted with the Grimes site. Of course was my first time to the desert so easily impressed, but the art was worth the drive out. Be sure to take water! HOT. I was afraid the pics I took wouldn't come out well, but some of the art that you could barely see came out good on my camera. It was very spiritual, experienceing something that people made thousands of years ago, imagining what it was like then.

We spent an evening and half the next day wandering the paths, and then off the paths, searching out the most interesting and exotic petroglyphs. There are hundreds to choose from. Don't neglect the part of the park about 1/2 mile down the dirt road where the most recognizeable image of a lizard is on a rock just to the right of the parking lot. Take the entire loop trail, it is fascinating.
