Though the weather was windy and rainy in May when I visited, the reservoir didn't disappoint. It was impressive, huge, and beautiful, and despite the wind and rain, I made a trip around the entire lake. The camp grounds and beaches, though deserted this particular day, were well laid out and offered innumberable opportunities to the visitor wanting to stay. A recommended addition to a Valentine stay.
I fish here one week a year for the last 12 years. I love the lake and its location. It is never crowded and there are few to no recreational boaters in the early summer. Beautiful Ancient Sandhills

One of the most beautiful areas in the world. Be sure to Canoe the Niobrara River when visiting the area. Try to coordinate your vist with the water foul migration. The most impressive thing you will ever see.
