This is a college student bar. It is expensive even for Oxford where finding a domestic under 3.00 is difficult after 7pm. Owned and operated by thugs. Bouncers are abusive and bartenders are rude. Do not let your children go there. It's just a matter of time before this place is closed by the authorities who are not crooked. Something you would expect to see in a more urban area than a small college town.

The library is easliy the best bar in Oxford. The best girls, the best drinks, the best bartenders! All of the negative reviews on this board are obviously people who dont like to party and have a good time at a bar or are people from starkville that aren't used to cover charges! I would bet the negative reviews came from other bar owners in town, (not for long, The Library puts them all out of business) or people that should have gone to STATE. You will only love it or hate it. It is by far the most popular bar in town so the "scenery" is nice. If you want to dance in Oxford you have to go here. If you want a laid back place it's not happening at the Library. The cover is ridiculous so you have to go early to get around it. On a crazy night though the cover can be completely worth it.

On a night after a big win (or even a loss, something we deal with quite often) there is no better place to be in the country. Great music, huge place to hang out, beautiful women of all ages, it just doesn't get any better.

I've been to many bars in my lifetime. Never have I had such an unpleasant experience as I did in the Library Sports Bar. I was charged $10 at the door just to go in and have a drink. There was no place to sit, and the bartenders were rude and unappreciative of my patronage. I hear there is a new place right across the street, and I will definitely check it out next time I'm in town.
