Glensheen is absolutely amazing! The detailed craftsmanship and the artifacts in the home are very unique and the staff does a great job of pointing out all the highlights. It's also great to just wander around the grounds of the house--Lake Superior views are wonderful! Have visited other historic homes that are not nearly as interesting or ...

Tour was okay, not very honest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/08
I agree with the other reviewers who said that the tour guides are not telling you everything. To me it didn't matter if we learned about the murders, but the guides should at least be able to acknowledge that it happened. I was also a little disgusted that in order to see the 3rd floor of the home, you need to pay extra. Beautiful home, but a ...
Honestly, you feel like royalty at Glensheen. If you can, pretend while you walk through the mansion what it must have been like to live there and just drift back into time. Obviously the craftsmanship of the this treasure is amazing to say the least. Who knew we had such beautiful jewels hidden here in the Midwest?!
You don't just learn ...

Wasn't what I expected...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/08
I live in Duluth and drive by it everyday. It was beautiful and exciting to see, but the only reason I wanted to go was to hear about the murders that took place. It was very expensive to take my whole family that was visiting and that is what we all wanted to hear about, as we had read the book about it ahead of time.

Stop By Every Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/07
I love this place because it has such a history, and the tour guides have great stories to tell. We stop by every time we go to Duluth. Though the cost is rather high, it is definently worth the cost.
I would strongly recommend stopping by if you are visiting Duluth. It's very interesting and has rich history.

Wonderful! Worth the time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/07
The entire grounds were absolutely beautiful. The house, extravagent! It was breath taking and very interesting to be shown the different rooms, things that have stayed in excellent condition all these years. It was absolutely worth the money. The only bad thing was having to pay extra money to see the 4th floor. I think they should just charge a flat fee for the entire house.

Definately going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/07
My daughter and I took the Mothers Day tour and luncheon. We had a wonderful time. This is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever toured. The guides were very friendly and very knowledgeable. The art work, ornate wood, furniture, wall coverings, it was just awesome. The lunch was a buffet, great food, with beautifully set tables in the ...
