Well I was really excited and looking forward to my trip to Salem..as I was looking at websites pertaining to Salem, I ran across the Salem Witch Museum..I immediately thought to myself.."This looks Awesome!"..... Boy...was I wrong. My friend and I were very disappointed, and felt "Jipped". We entered the museum along with ...

If I had to choose just one word to describe the Salem Witch Museum: "cheesy." The other word I might choose is "cheap" (in reference to the quality but not the entrance fee).
We spent $7.50 per person to watch old, cheap dioramas of witch trials in a dark room with a pentagram on the floor (ooh, scary). And then were ...

Wiccan fundraiser, not a museum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/07
If you're interested in joining the wiccan religion then this is the place for you otherwise don't bother! The first part of the "museum" exhibit was somewhat informative but the second half was absolutely stupid and lame. It became clear that this museum is operated by the wiccan congregation and we did not like being proselytized under false pretenses and especially with children in tow.

LIKE YOU WERE THERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/07
The museum is not badly priced. When you walk into the room you are seated on planks of wood. Then suddenly the evil eye lights up. They take you through the entire trial period and afterwards. But I really appreciated how they explained the views of the devil at the time. After the initial presentation you are guided through the tour of wicca. ...
I must have somehow overlooked the artifacts that would have qualified this tourist trap as a museum. The first part of the museum was mildly entertaining, but I missed half the show because I couldn't see it from where I was seated. The second part of the museum was cheesy beyond words. After being made to wait in the gift shop for about ...
Most of these negative reviews are pretty accurate. I found the most enjoyable part of the experience was getting to sit down in a cool room for a little bit. My feet were tired so a rest was in order. The "presentation" was cheesy, as my husband put it and the 2nd part of it was a joke. The word "museum" is completely ...

Good information, but a pro wicca sales job.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/07
We wanted to visit Salem to get an accurate account of the Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Museum seemed to be the most recommended attraction, so this is where we went. The Salem Witch Museum experience comes in 2 parts. During the first part you are invited in to a large room with seating around the perimeter. Around the upper portion of the ...

Accurate and dramatic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/07
Of all the tours and museums in Salem that depict the events of 1692, this is the most accurate. It isnt a museum but more of a show with a dramatic narration. I can see why some people may find it boring, but i'm sure these are the people that think Salem is about witches on brooms and not about innocent people murdered in the name of ...
note: I went there about 5 years ago. I can't give detailed accounts of everything due to this, but the impression I got still rings true.
I will admit, I think the ambiance was nice. The "theater room" has a great light up emblem on the floor that really sets the mood.
However, as others have said, it's more of a tourist ...

Rent "The Crucible" instead
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
I wish we'd read these negative reviews before we went, because they're spot on. Like others have said, the place is not a museum. I was expecting to hear about the histories of the people involved; the methods that were used for trying witches; folklore; see old court documents, etc.
Instead, we got a slightly politically correct ...
