    By visiting the house and gardens that Wharton designed, a visitor can gain a much deeper understanding of this complex and intelligent writer. And even if you don't give a hoot about her, the property is absolutely lovely. It also makes an interesting contrast with the Victorian-style mansions in the area. Wharton's design shows a great ...

    The Mount gives a full appreciation of Edit Wharton, her writing, her theories on decorating and gardening design, as well as a general appreciation of the whole "gilded age" in America. Its financial troubles have made headlines, but don't let those difficulties distract you from the inherent beauty of the estate and its grounds. See it while you can!
