This place used to be one of my favorites. But a few years ago the owner died. The son took over and by the look of it, he does not have the same quality controls of the father. Last two times I have tried, I definitively noticed the bad quality of the sauce and the ingredients. Sauce was sour. Pasta was ovecooked. Cheap Olive oil. Portions are ...

At what place were these folks eating?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/07
The chicken had the consistency of shoe leather, the salmon tasted like canned tuna, albeit salmon-flavored canned tuna, the house wine tasted like I would imagine the cheap screw top variety would taste and everything had way, way too much garlic. You'll need a bath and a good mouthwash after eating at this place. The waitstaff, however, were nice.

Love the food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/07
The food is wonderful. Cooked very quicky. Delicious. The foccacia bread is out of this world! (If you eat downstairs where the prices are the same as upstairs, make sure to request the bread because you receive very little service.) I'm not convinced that all the staff has working papers, but they certainly do a great job!

it's my favorite!
By Silverbridge, 11/23/06
the food is fabulous, the service excellent, and the wine delicious. it's my favorite place to go in Amherst, whether it is to meet up with friends, entertain clients, or just for a quiet, excellent evening out. I can always count on Pasta E Basta to be superior in every way.

Not only can you get your food in minutes cooked to perfection but you also recieve the best foccia bread in New England with a recipe sent back from Rome, Italy. This is an authentic place with managers who speak fluent Italian and a waitstaff that has half been and ate in Italy. They get to know the customers and make them apart of the Pasta E Basta family!!!

Sicker than Sick

Love this joint. Went there about every other day while in college with my best friends. Our favorites included pasta marinara and chicken parm. Great for an I-talian like myself.

Ital-American "cuisine"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/05
This place is a warehouse for unloading mediocre pasta. Cramped, loud, unromantic, but most of all, the food's unmemorable. If you're lucky, you can at least stare out the window while waiting to leave.

Its my favorite place to eat in Amherst. Whether you sit down stairs and get the fast paced, hot, kitchen food or sit up stairs with the romantic candles and music, you will love it. Enjoy!
