What we liked was that it was a nice, easy boat ride for our two young children. You get off on a Assateague beach after a tour of some of the back harbors, so the boys got to see lots of boats. On the way back, there were nature things to look at, and they had some of kids volunteer to take the specimens around to the other participants for a ...
More than 1 1/2 hour drive from our location (we were told one hour), the ponies were not available they were on round -up, very unprofesssional service, should have told us this, I asked over and over if we would see ponies, told " oh yes" my niece was so excited, we ended up with 3 very disappointed kids, and $500.00 poorer. Also the ...
I thought going to Assateague would be the highlight of my vacation, but it turned out to be a boring waste of time and money. Capt. Mark and his cousin buddy are not at all professional. You need a credit card to reserve but have to pay cash when you get there. You expect to be going out on a larger tour boat, only to show up at slip 14 to a ...
I tried to make an appointment for a kayak tour. Their office person first tried to give me tours (earlier times) that I was not interested in and did not ask about, very eagerly took my credit card information for an afternoon tour, got irritated that I asked for directions then abruptly told me there were no spots available for the tour that I ...
My wife and I had our wedding on the beaches of assateague. We spent our honeymoon in Berlin, Ocean City, on the islands canoeing, camping, eating. I LOVE IT. its one of the few untouched wildernesses on the east coast. I recommend it for any occasion or a inexpensive way to get away for a while.
i woulden't know but i have seen pics from my friends and heared it was awesome defenatly a great place.i mean i have never been there but i have always wanted to, and if this review sheet had pics of emotion and stuff i would give it two thumbs up and a smiley face and write i would get a pic of an eye and then a heart (not acual body part pics) then i would write assateague!
We had a great time. I have to admit the first visit we saw very few horses that were close enough for photos but we went back on the 2nd morning and we found herds just standing around. It seemed they were everywhere. I'm glad they allow you to return many times for one price b/c honestly, I wouldn't have paid a second time to get in but ...
We enjoyed the slow ride out to the island and were able to see a group of ponies. Our little boy enjoyed trying to get something in his net. The only disappointment was that we were limited to how far we could explore.
Lots of photo opportunities. Lots of horses and deer. Great for children. It is some what expensive if you just want to go for a ride to see wild life. $10 for the national park.
A great trip! If you are alone in O.C. with a 6 yr old do this!

Not everyone can or wants to rent a boat. This is a great adventure with small children, they love it! A perfect tour for 8 and under. They are thrilled to catch shinners & hermit crabs in a net, feel a sea star in a tupperware container and see ponies on the island. After this tour we drove to Assateague the next day, it was glorious. We wouldn't have done this if not for this "adventure".
