I have never been unhappy dining here, which is more than I can say for most restuarants. It isn't the greatest but consistently good.

My husband and I have been eating at the Crab Shanty for 15 years and over the past year we have noticed a steady decline of service. The servers do not check on the guests frequently enough, the hostesses are flippant, and the general manager has been condescending to us whenever we have voiced our concerns.

Don't let the outside fool you! Its rustic interior is warm and inviting. The Christmas decorations provide a magical atmosphere. This is a wonderful place to meet friends and family, and large groups, such as for a small wedding reception, are accommodated as well (with some notice, of course).

With a party of 7 adults and 1 infant, we were seated alone in a separate room. Service was slow. We were forced to go to the bar to get drink refills. Since there was an automatic 18% tip, I believe this was tip the cause of the poor service.
A separate take-out order was placed before we left and again were charged 18% tip for being handed a styrofoam container.

This place has the best crab cakes in the world. The rolls are good too! You should try to go around Christmas time. They decorate beautifully. They also have a take-out store so you can get some crab-cakes (and other seafood) to go.

Service was great. Best place for crabs west of the Bay.

It is a great plcae and the crab dip and the 2x baked potatoes are excellent.
