A shreveport institution, Smith's still does it exactly right, keeping it to simple seafood with a savory flair. We go as often as we're in town. Thurman's the best waiter in the country. Always there to please and always remembers what you want.

Location, very good steaks, casual yet elegant, relaxed dining with superb sevice. This place has been a local favorite for as long as I remember. Though I no longer live in Shreveport, I still try to dine there on every visit back. It's quality without pretention.

Maybe it was because there were 18 people in our group, but it should not take two hours for dinner to be served. Reservations got us seated immediately but that was the end of the quality for the evening. I could not tell the fish had ever been in water it was so dry. This anniversary celebration will be remembered as one not to be repeated.

my relationship w/ Smith's has lasted over 30 years. Until a little over a year ago, I've had the same waiter ever time Buddy). He and the food made for many memorable experiences. However, since the son took over operations, I've had more than one bad experience. He is extremely hostile to the waitstaff. But, other than this, I will be a faithful patron as long as they're open for business.
