My Church since 1944I went to school at Cathedral High and attended mass at St. John's Cathedral for all these years except for my duties in the service. I was married there on Jan 7, 1957. His Excellency Maurice Schexnayder, Auxillary Bishop officiated at my wedding. And my wife and I still attend the 11 am mass every Sunday. My five children were baptized and ...2 of 2 Yahoo! I will always go to church here!I was baptized in this Church, As soon as I stepped in the only word that comes to mind is "beautifu" The way the church is lit up, the music they chose, all was well. Wonderful MassI attended a Sunday Mass at St. John's during Advent 2006. The grounds outside and the architecture inside and out are gorgeous. The excellent choir, organ, and reverent atmosphere made the day so special for me! (The choir needs to produce CD's, if they don't already do so!) The people were very friendly and welcoming. tree at St. John catheral, Lafayette, La.There was NOTHING to dislike about this tree. It MUST be the most magnifcant site in all of Louisiana. It was in January of 2007 when we visited it in the pouring down rain but I HAD to go and stand under it even in the rain. Was so glad that I did. Beautiful WeddingsI had my wedding at the Cathedral on January 7th. It was the most beautiful setting for our most special occasion. The staff was wonderfully accommodating and gracious, especially since we moved our wedding from New Orleans to Lafayette after Hurricane Katrina.
