Honestly, I would have to say this train is not very fun. Knowing I have lived in Topeka almost my whole life, and I know there is not really much to do, I would have to say that if you are stuck here in Topeka for a while, why not spend the 5ish dollars to ride on the train. Kids really enjoy it, and it's good if you don't really know the ...
The thing I miss most about Topeka, having been gone nearly 20 years now is Gage Park, I spent many a day enjoying the parks beauty, and have many fond memories of it, quiet times reflecting on my thoughts at Dorian Rock Garden, Sharing the beauty of the Rose Garden with a loved one, picnics in the park, the zoo, the mini train, and the carousel, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Great Surprise!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/06
My grand daughter was visiting and we went to the zoo and then took a ride on the mini-train. To our surprise there was an old fashioned train robberies by the Bart Plasterson Gang. It was a great lesson on the old west, gun safety and good winning out over evil - crime does not pay...It was one of the highlights of my grand daughters visit. Great Job!!

Daughter can't wait for her birthday!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/06
My daughters birthday party will be in Gage Park this year and she can't wait just so she and all of her friends can ride the train. It's an excellent experience for the young and young at heart alike. They tell the history of the track and of the park...and the later in the day you ride, the longer your ride is because the tracks stretch ...
We loved the train and our Grandchildren had so much fun. What a delightful experience for us all. For my husband and myself, it was very nostaligic, remembering doing things like this in our past. The park the train goes through is beautiful.

The experience here depends on the driver. There are a couple of older gentlemen that give a lot of history and information on the train, and make it a more pleasureable experience. If you're in Topeka with children, the train is a must (although it's a little overpriced).
This Mini-Train is a hidden gem...if you are in Topeka I highly recommend that you take a ride. Then, go take a ride on the carousel. It is very old and has been restored beautifully. Topeka has something to be proud of!

Best ride ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/05
My granddaughter has told many about her recent ride on the train. It a very humid August 12th. The driver was a young guy full of information and personality. After the kids yelled through the tunnel he backed up and told them to yell backwards...what a hoot! Then as we reached the last curve he slowed way down and referred to the "The ...

My grand daughter and I love it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/05
Obviously, the parents that took their little boy to ride the train on March 22nd didn't check the operating hours before hand. The train starts operating on April 1st along with the merry-go-round. I've taken my grand daughter to the zoo at least 4 times a year for the last 3 years, and riding the train is one of the highlights.
