We went to this zoo thinking it'd be a great zoo from reading all the reviews. Well when we got there half of the stuff was closed. The registers were down. The staff was VERY rude. We couldn't even see half of the animals, as they had tarps over the fences. Just wasen't a good experience for us.
I loved going to the Zoo when I was a child but had not been to one in over 20 years. I was invited with some friends to visit Mesker Park Zoo. Had a wonderful time. Staff was second to none and since we were there on a slow day they were able to cater to us with personal attention. For that reason we may of received more detailed information ...

I have a membership to the zoo, and use it as often as I can. I was visiting the zoo with my two children and my nephew when waiting in line he was stung by a bee, imediately before I could even get him to stop crying a very nice worker came with a after bite lotion for him. He was comforted by that and she also brought him and my children a gift ...

Loved AMAZONIA!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/09
My family and I recently visited and were nothing but impressed. The new rainforest exhibit is world class. It had toucans, lots of monkeys, tapir, capybara, jaguars, and the coolest plants ever in it! It even had a huge waterfall that we took our picture in front of that I'm going to get framed. The rest of the zoo was great, too. Lots of ...
I love taking my children here because they have everything set up so nice for kids of all ages. Although it wears me out with a lot of hills to walk on, my kids have gotten such a kick out of the new Amazonia Exhibit and everything there is really nice now. They have really spent a lot of time and effort making it look great there.
Well, i usually love taking my daughter here, even though they don't have many exciting animals, but the last time we went (4-3-09) was a major dissapointment! there were pieces of cardboard scattered around the zoo for some unknown reason. They were doing construction in many areas and just had small bulldozers, caution tape, and tools laying ...
We recently took my 2 grandkids and my neice to Mesker Zoo & I was a little disappointed with the overall experience. I thought the $8.50/$7.50 fee was reasonable, however, once inside, we found that a lot of the exhibits were empty and the petting zoo was pretty bare as well which made the fee a little high if you have a family of 4. Also, ...

Not worth the trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/06/09
This zoo is very dingy and not much of a zoo at all.The exhibits are either too small or overgrown with weeds and/or just dirt.Except for the new Amazonia which is the only decent tihng about this zoo.We took our 3 year old daughter after the remodel and she still did not enjoy anything except Amazonia ( which walkways are tiny) That charge $3.00 ...
The zoo is beautiful! My daughter was disappointed due to the fact there were no elephants. The giraffes were beautiful...they were so close...you could almost touch them. I would recommend visiting the Mesker Zoo if you are ever in the area. A little pricy, but they do take VISA now!
Mesker park Zoo is a great place to take your kids in the Spring or Fall. I am really looking forward to Amazonia being finished so that we can check it out.
At least they have web cams of Amazonia up on their website. :)
The staff at Mesker Zoo is top notch. If you are in Evansville, make sure you stop at the Zoo.
