This house has been beautifully restored and really does look as though the Grants will be returning while you are there visiting. The tour guides are very friendly and informative.
The house is a lovely attraction in a perfectly charming town in northwestern Illinois.
The house is maintained by the State of Illinois so it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. They ask for a $3 donation...I think it's a very good deal.

Wonderful historic tour!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/06/05
The Grant home tour is one of the must see attractions in Galena! It is picturesque amongst the hilly historic streets and homes. The tour persons were informative, well versed in period history, and were able to discuss the personal life of Grant which is unique from most other tours taken. Small museum is located next to home outlining important dates and accomplishments, very interesting.
