My husband and I went to the Fire Museum. Wow, what an interesting place. We were greeted by a friendly red-headed woman who offered to show us around. I liked being greeted by someone and it made us feel very welcome. This lady was well informed on all the exhibits which made it more interesting. We felt very special that she took the time to ...

Felt rushed and unwelcome, despite neat stuff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/04/08
First off, let me say this is a very small (1 gallery) museum, but very nice and professionally done.
However, I wish the staff had left us alone! I went with my 4 y.o. and 1.5 y.o. When I go to a museum one of my goals is to point out all sorts of little things to teach my kids how to notice and appreciate, but the woman who greeted us at ...
Wow -- what a great place. They've got five fire engines to see, horse stalls, hose tower, even a nice gift shop. The staff is friendly, the old building creates a wonderful atmosphere. This is one of Aurora's best kept secrets for families and kids!

New exhibit with video clips - explains the history of firefighting. My kids liked the horses and the ringing bell. Friendly staff. IF you like museums, you'll wanna see this neat old fire station.

Wow - the hottest place in town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
This museum is located in a wonderful old building that used to be a fire station, and features the old horse stalls, alarm room, and the tall hose drying tower. Half a dozen fire engines are on exhibit - from the 1850s to the 1950s. The museum has a well stocked gift shop friendly staff and great programs for school and scout groups.
The museum uses the tagline - "the hottest place in town" and I think they are!

Given a Personal tour with on history of building, and all objects on display. The building is restored to the past glory. I will be taking all who visit chicago to this museum. I have never seen such a wonderful collection of fire equipment.
