The local music scene in Tallahassee is thriving, but for some reason it's not very well publicized. This festival is a wonderful venue to see and hear local jazz, blues, zydeco, swing, and just about nything else you can imagine. It's a completely casual atmosphere under the trees, with lots of dancing and clapping along. It's a great time for any music lover!
Zoos in general make me a bit squeamish (not so sure about the whole animals in captivity thing), but the animals here seem to be well kept and have large natural habitat enclosures. It's not a full fledged zoo, but it's as close as you'll get in Tallahassee. The Museum has a great boardwalk that leads you through outdoor habitats of indigenous animals. There’s a playground and also a petting zoo the kids love.
