The lightner museum has many interesting things for everyone. The grounds outside are as breathtaking as some of the items inside. Also a beautiful place to have a wedding which is allowed as well.
The Lightner museum was an extremely beautiful place to visit and also very affordable thay had several different kinds of discounts. There are both guided and self-guided tours. There are tons of beautiful artifacts, paintings and dishes they even had a mummy on display as well. Each floor has its own theme including the ball room. I highly ...
It was a great surprise to visit the museum! It was an awesome surprise. Agreed...it was alikened to a visit to what I think the Smithsonian would be like. It has an incredible history and you can 'feel it' all over the place. I can hardly wait to go back...yes, very soon, again!..Melanie T.
We didn't find this museum in any of the St. Augustine brochures, and had no idea such a place existed. The museum was recommended by the proprietor of our B&B and they had an article featuring it in their "common room." When we arrived we were pleased by the admission price (I think it was less than $10 a person) and more than ...

I liked everything about this plase except I did not plan it correctly since I did not know what was there. We were there about 3 hours, It requires at least 8 hours. This was the best place we visited in St. Augustine.
Considered the "Smithsonian of the South," the Lightner museum was absolutely stunning. Definitely not child friendly, but an absolutely amazing collection for those that enjoy beautiful art, and interesting artifacts. Be prepared, they will ask you to leave your purse or bag at the front desk. Flash photography is allowed.
The Lightner Museum is beautiful both inside and out. When you first drive pass/walk up you'll notice the outside is a testament to beautiful historical architecture. Take a few "Kodak" moments by a fountain on in the courtyard.
The lower area is the Cafe Alcazar and the former indoor swimming pool. The first floor has 3 ...
I have taken my kids to the lightner every time we go to St Augustine, we do the scavenger hunt that they will give you at the admission desk for free, along with a free Lightner Museum pencil, The kids love to try to be the first to find all the answers first.
I am a musuem person, so when my friend suggested we visit this place, I was all for it. The lady that took our money was a little rude, but we quickly got over that, everyone has bad days. My friend and I were both very disappointed. We didn't see many things of interest to either of us. Reminded me of an antique store. Do not bring small ...
The Lightner Museum is housed in the Alcazar Hotel - built by Henry Flagler in 1887. The museum presents collections of 19th century Victoriana originally owned by Otto Lightner. He purchased the hotel in 1946 to house his collections, then later donated both the building and the collections to the city of St. Augustine.
