Bird Sanctuary near Mote Museum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/09
It was wonderful visit - and as close as I would get as an artist to some of the birds of Florida. The place looked really nice for the inhabitants and they looked well cared for. I would rate it as high as I did visiting the Mote and friendlier in some instances. It was a wonderful walk - and a good place to donate - rate it very high!!!! Spend the time -

I had my grandchildren with me to visit Save Our Seabirds, and some woman in the office was swearing saying the f word and other explanatives, I was sadened by this and mentioned it to a fine man, whom was very appoligetic and said Winny was having a bad day, but I dont think the public should have to listen to swearing at such a place, I dont ...
I've tried to visit the site listed previously but the links for donations is not working. I suggest going to http://saveourseabirds.org/ to make donations and get up to date information. Pelican Man Sanctuary is now Save our Seabirds
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/09
On November 1, 2008, Save our Seabirds opened to the public in the same location where Pelican Man Sanctuary was located. After being abandoned for four years, it took a crew of volunteers 6 months to remove the lush overgrowth that had consumed and buried the old sanctuary. Now it is open to the public with no admission charge. It is up and running as a seabird rehab facility, accepting injured/sick birds on a daily basis.

All volunteers and donations are VERY much appreciated. No entry fee--- donations only!

My favorite place in Sarasota
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/07
If you like birds, this is for you, no matter your age. It mimics a zoo, compact, with attractive areas featuring open (netted or screened) housing for birds, separated by species. The section for birds of prey is located away from the others. When we were there, we were given a "tour" of their small veterinary hospital. Vets ...
