THE PIER IS A GREAT PLACE TO VIST. IT NEEDS A LITTLE WORK AND THE FOOD IS A LITTLE PRICEY. I agree with the comments about it going downhill. But, you still get the 1950's nostalgia here. Everything is run down and the rides are pretty much carnival type rides (run by carnies)... aka - wouldn't trust them. But, it's typical boardwalk fare along the beach. Crowd gets a little rough after dark so think twice before bringing small/impressionable children there.

The Main Street Pier is a piece of Americana unchanged in nearly 100 years. The skyride is truly awesome, but if you have any fear of heights, sudden movements, or falling, I wouldn't recommend it!

The pier and the area around the pier seem run down. Many of the shops are boarded up and the shops that are open are seedy.

The boardwalk/pier area is overrated!!! Daytona needs to pump $$$$ into this area!!!
Beach is great. Head half hour south and check out New Smyrna. Flagler Ave one cool place!!!

The view is great, the food is average the price is high. There is a lot of other places that is a lot better food for the buck.

Love the fishing and the overall atmosphere...My son and me had a great time. We stay just a few blocks from there and would walk every morning to the boardwalk for breakfast and in the afternoon to the pier for fishing. Seen a 5 foot shark off the pier while fishing, very friendly people work there as well as the people fishing there, rode the skylift and recomend it to everyone.
