THE PIER IS A GREAT PLACE TO VIST. IT NEEDS A LITTLE WORK AND THE FOOD IS A LITTLE PRICEY. BUT OTHER THEN THAT IT IS GREAT.I REMEMBER COMING UP ON THE PIER AND BEING GREETED BY ONE OF THE WORKERS AT THE RIDE. SUCH A NICE YOUNG MAN AND SUCH GREAT MANNERS HE HAD.WE SPENT TWO AND A HALF WEEKS THERE IN DAYTONA AND WE CAME BACK THE LAST DAY OF THE TRIP ...
My family and I have been spending our summer vacations in Daytona for the past several years. The hurricane seasons have not been good to the Main Street Pier. The last two years the Pier has been in desperate need of cosmetic and constructional improvements. They still have a nice restaurant and offer fishing bait, etc, however, the town ...
I MET MY HUSBAND AT THE MAIN STREET PIER IN 2003. WE SPENT MANY NIGHTS SITTING ON THE PIER LISTENING TO THE OCEAN, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO SEE STING-RAY AND SHARKS. SOMETHING A MIDWEST GIRL HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I HAVE EVER SEEN OFF THE PIER IS THE "BLUE TIDE" IT WAS BREATH TAKING. I FOUND THE LOVE OF MY LIFE ...
I agree with the comments about it going downhill. But, you still get the 1950's nostalgia here. Everything is run down and the rides are pretty much carnival type rides (run by carnies)... aka - wouldn't trust them. But, it's typical boardwalk fare along the beach. Crowd gets a little rough after dark so think twice before bringing small/impressionable children there.
The Main Street Pier is a piece of Americana unchanged in nearly 100 years. The skyride is truly awesome, but if you have any fear of heights, sudden movements, or falling, I wouldn't recommend it!
The Pier has seen better days, but it is obvious that the city is trying to improve it. The arcades and shops in the area seem as though they ...
The boardwalk/pier area is overrated!!! Daytona needs to pump $$$$ into this area!!! Beach is great. Head half hour south and check out New Smyrna. Flagler Ave one cool place!!!
Love the fishing and the overall atmosphere...My son and me had a great time. We stay just a few blocks from there and would walk every morning to the boardwalk for breakfast and in the afternoon to the pier for fishing. Seen a 5 foot shark off the pier while fishing, very friendly people work there as well as the people fishing there, rode the skylift and recomend it to everyone.
