We were lucky enough to visit when Mr Bishop was there working on the front entrance area. Mr Bishop has basically spent his entire life building this castle, by hand! What a hard working man. You might want to note tho Mr. Bishop is very opinionated about politics & government & what he feels is wrong with it. If you are sensitive to ...
Great family experience. Castle has been created out of steel and rocks. Nothing more, nothing less, but for reasons??? That is the question! Nice drive through the mountains of beautiful forests and natural setting. Price: Donation only. Great place to take the family and have some wonderful discussions of who, what, why and most interestingly, how!
There are several areas in the castle that a child can get hurt in. Missing cat walks, a rope to a bell without a floor under it, loose debris, etc. My grandson ran to ring the bell and if I had not caught him by his waist he would have fallen down the shaft the rope hangs down. No warning signs either.
Very narrow passage ways too. Interesting experience for adults only!

It certainly shows what one is capable of if only one has a dream and nothing to do for a few decades. He's creepy to encounter, I'd advise avoiding him if he's onsite.
This is a very unique place Jim Bishop built the castle himself it was really cool it has 3 floors and a tower it needed some railings on the outside catwalks but very neat
The scenic drive up the mountian is unforgettable. Then out of the beautiful trees you see the spire of the castle. It is a simple castle compare to European ones and yet it is a wonder in the area.
Bishop's Castle can be overlooked, and this is extremely unfortunate. To read the story of Bishop's Castle is to ask about what dreams are made of and what is possible with motivation.
When visiting, you'll notice there is still construction going on. This doesn't interfere with the visitor's enjoyment of climbing up and ...
