I first went to the monument shortly after moving to Colorado in '95. I had no idea what to expect - it could have been just a plaque on a tree. But, for a short day trip (under 2 hrs.), I went to see.
I was totally astounded! Such a beautiful place! I have been back many, many times to camp, hike, or just yell from an overlook to hear the ...
I had been to the CNM 14 years ago. I have photos on my wall that I had enlarged & framed of it. My husband always asks about them, so we decided to take a vacation this year & see it (again for me). Still as beautiful as I remember. Lots of places to stop & take in the view. The only thing it needs is a port-a-potty about half-way through.
This was my first trip out west and this is such a beautiful place!! I can't wait to make the trip again with my family.

I lived around the monument (as we refer to it) for 10 years. It has some of the most georgus veiws. You can see the whole town of Grand Junction. The hiking is terrific and the place is kept up beautifuly.
We have so much fun everytime we visit the monument. There are so many fun things to do here. If you enjoy biking, hiking, or just getting out in nature this is a great place. The entry fee is just 5 bucks per carand is definately worth it and the park is just 10 minutes from downtown. They have a wonderful program to get the kids involved in the visit. It teaches them about all the rock formations and the animals their habitats.

Hiking is always fun, but it was really pretty. You can pick an easy or hard hike. And no matter where you go you get a good view! BIKE IT TOO!
I have grown up in the valley, and loved taking the trips up there with my Mother when I was little. Now, I can take my four year old daughter there, and watch her eyes shine as she chases lizards, sees the valley from up above, climbs around. It's a great place (as is most of Colorado) to get out and enjoy the land. Full recomendation from me!
History unfolds in the layered sandstone escaprments that make up this national park. Pack a picnic lunch and plan on spending most of the day exploring the hiking trails and scenery. Rimrock Drive rivals the Pacific Coast Highway for sheer drop-offs and thrills. The visitor center has very informative displays and friendly workers.
