  • Do NOT ride at this stable.
    By A Yahoo Contributor, 10/18/09
Our family went on a beginner one-hour trail ride at Sombrero Ranch in Estes Park. We told them we were beginners, and the ride was published as "gentle horses on an easy trail".

Within the first few minutes of the ride, all of the horses were spooked by a bird and took off running. My horse ran under a low tree branch which resulted ...

  • Don't Recommend Grand Lake Location
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/09
Made a reservation on-line for my family on the breakfast ride at Grand Lake. We arrived at 6:30 as instructed, they were not expecting anyone for the breakfast ride. They sent us to Snow Mtn, 30 min away, and said that they would be ready and waiting for us. We arrived and no one had been told we were coming and no spaces available.

  • Real Colorado Fun
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/09
Took my family to Colorado and this is what they will remember. Real cowboys, awesome horses and I had a steak dinner that was the best meal we ate. Booked it online, they knew me when we walked up, it was like we were coming home. We are "tenderfoots" from the mid west but we got to ride on a beautiful trail on a great ranch and eat a ...

  • Best day of our trip
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/06/09
The dinner ride was a blast. My kids loved it the most. What a great place to stop and eat in the mountains. With so few great places left in the world it is nice to see Sombrero keeping a tradition like this open and not letting developers put there hands on this place. My dinner was great! Steaks to order, cowboy beans- potatoes. It is my ...

  • Our nice ride/awful food ride
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/08
We signed up our family of 5 for a steak ride a week before the planned event. The ride was to be at 5:00 for a steak supper. We had to be there at 3:30, which was not with our planning. We were completely finished by 6:00. That included a slow walk on an old, deep trail, potatoes that were left over and the worst I have ever tasted, ...

  • AWSOME!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/08
The scenery was awsome, the horses enjoyed what they were doing, and the workers were amazing! I would really like to thank the workers for the long days that they put in to make sure that the guests get to enjoy the beautiful scenary that Colorado has to offer. I would recommend this to any person no matter how experienced they are with horses.

  • THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/15/07
MY FAMILY TRULY ENJOYED OUR RIDE AT SOMBRERO.
AS FAR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DOWN RATE THIS PLACE. WE WERE MADE WELL AWARE,BY THE STAFF, THAT WE WERE RESPOSIBLE FOR OUR DECISION TO GO RIDING. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN & AGAIN.

COLORADO EQUESTRIAN LAW STIPULATES: ANY PERSON RIDING A HORSE IS SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS & THEREFORE HOLDS THE RANCH OR STABLE HARMLESS. THEY ALSO SIGN A WAIVER TO THIS EFFECT....

  • Do NOT go here
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/07
The horses are not maintained or trained. They are herded then saddled. These are working animals. One of the horses fell with my wife on it and resulted in permanent injuries. The guide and staff only cared about the well being of the horse.

  • It Was Awsome
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/07
I went up to Estes park in the winter with My Mom, Dad, Little Brother, Aunt, Uncle and two cousins. This stable is the only stable open in winter. We got to ride in the snow! It was so cool! It will probably be the oddest trail ride you have ever gone on... but I so recomend doing it when your in estes park. There is boot hill, gum tree, and this tree that got got struck but lightning! It was fun!
