I took my kids to the Rockies for the first time last week. As others have said, we loved seeing the wildlife, including hummingbirds, and wild flowers. We had two great sessions with the rangers (included free with the $20 admission for a weekful of visits for a carload of people). In the morning we learned about beavers and their lodges and dams. ...

Wow, I just got back and it was my first time ever in the Rockies and Colorado. We stayed in Denver, Manitou Springs, and Estes Park. Although Denver and Manitou Springs were fun, this was my favorite. There are tons of things to see at RMNP and the scenery is just breathtaking. Be sure to stop by the Estes Park Visitors Center before you go ...

Don't Waste Your Money

They charge $20 admission (the same as in summer) when everything is "closed for the season" and the road is closed through the park. You will see more wildlife driving through town in Estes Park than you will in the National Park. Sadly, the buget cuts of the current administration are taking their toll, and the NPS is sticking you with ...

My favorite vacation spot on earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/05
I fell in love with Rocky Mountain National Park when I was young and it remains my favorite vacation destination. The mountain views are breathtaking, especially when the peaks are covered with a blanket of snow. The trails are great for hiking. My favorite thing to do in the park is to watch wildlife. The elk rutting season in September is ...

one of my favorite places in the world
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
Great hiking. great views. It is so amazing to come here. Check out the cute little marrmots. I love this place so much. Be careful about the elevation. You can get sick. Take a day or two to get used to the elevation before you do a major hike.
Whether you hike to a secluded spot to see mountains and nature for miles, or fly fish many of the abundantly fishable rivers...you can't beat Rocky Mountain National Park!!
This is a wonderful national park with spectacular views, many hiking trails from beginner to advanced, horseback riding in the park and it is full of wild life. I have visited at least ten times and seen big horn sheep, chipmunks, beaver, elk, moose, deer, coyotes, marmots and many other animals and birds. It is fun to visit all year round and with Estes Park near by, this is a world class destination.
RMNP is a magical place! View elk, deer, sheep...take in the beauty of wildflowers and the incredible scenery. Go to the presentations offered each night in the campground amphitheaters - even if the topics do not sound interesting to you. The programs are always great and free!
