Loved itOK, we went because of the movie "Bottle Shock" and the movie is a serious stretch of the truth but we had a wonderful time here. We were treated like friends by warm friendly people who genuinely didn't care that we weren't wine snobs. We were free to walk the grounds, even out into the vineyards to see hands on and learn. Too ExpensiveChateau Montelena achieved its fame by being the winery which "beat" the French in a blind tasting back in 1976. It put Napa/Sonoma "on the map". The movie "Bottle Shock" chronicles the events.
The winery today is NOTHING like the winery of 1976. The grounds are outstanding and beautiful ... clearly improved from ...SHOW FULL REVIEWOVERALL
