I like to bring friends and family to Chewacla State Park when they visit. It is a pretty park, and they do have some fun activities for everyone. Chewacla is a very historical place and there are little known facts about the park. the first little known fact is that abraham licoln once swam in on of the ponds at chewacla. he did this in the summer of 1857 during a tour of alabama. in the fall of 1907 clark bowie, grandson of the inventor of the bowie knife, used to chase raccoons with his ...
Great place to take pictures of the kids. Best in fall when leaves are changing colors. The falls located below the dam is like no other. Cabins, play ground and beach area give the feel of stepping back in time.

Camping

The registration office was helpful and pleasant. Firewood is a good price. We loved our primitive site and we're going back again this weekend! Bathhouses need work: the washer and dryer are rusty but functional, only one shower head works (of 2), and there are no trash cans in the restrooms. Makes for a difficult situation where you're living in a tent. It's a beautiful park, although small, but very convenient for game days!
