I had learned about the house in one of my classes, looked it up online, and just loved it. I couldn't wait to see it. Well the house is amazing, it' HUGE, and you can't believe it was built so long ago. This is a must see in Springfield and well worth the "donation" amount. For those interested in architecture and Wright, it doesn't get better than this in the area.
We toured the Dana Thomas house and were quite interested. When you get there, they ask for a "donation", but you can't get in unless you give it to them!!! The tour guides really took a great deal of time with you. My kids found it to be very interesting and we just could not believe the place was so old. Our kids loved the basement gameroom. Worth the time and donation to take the tour.
The first residential home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour is only $3 and highly worth it. If you like FLW architecture, you'll love this home; it’s one of the most complete and best maintained in the country. The house is kept in the same manner as in 1904, remarkable! Even the light bulbs are the same as the turn of the century.
