My wife and I went out with our new camera and took some picures. It was January and the Temp was right around 20 degres. Almost all of the animals were out on display it was great. We got some awsome shots. The place was almost empty we practicly had the whole zoo to ourselvs. The African Exibit was not open that was our only complaint. Other than that I would love to go again.
I am used to the Omaha zoo, so I was disappointed in the SF zoo lack in size. However, the SF zoo, you get ALOT closer to the animals. The gift shop was pricey, but, what gift shop isn't. As far as admission, it is at the high end of what I would be willing to pay. They do need ocean exibits though. The museum was neat, tons of mounted animals in somewhat realistic poses.

Well, I really didn't enjoy this zoo as much as i thought i would. It is alright, but it would need major improvements to satisfy my quality standards.
The museum is really interesting, with a lot of mounted animals to see, nicely set up in diorama settings. The zoo is average, we are from Omaha and nothing seems to compare to our zoo. We felt that the grounds were rather pretty and that they tried to make it nice here, but we were disturbed by the condition of some of the enclosures....many had ...

Our first trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/01/06
On our first trip to the zoo with our son, I had a fantatic time. We all enjoyed looking at all the animals. Our son still talks about the zoo all the time. I think that it is a good family activity. The gift shop can be a little spendy so if you plan on shopping bring some extra cash. Other than that I thought the price to get into the zoo itself ...

not up to par

I took my 4 yr old to the zoo, talk about boring and disapointment....there werent hardly any animals and we went during the time of year when there should have been plenty. The cost was pretty spendy and the exhibits are not very interesting at all. Total disapointment. We will be going to Omaha next time instead...it's worth the drive.

Good zoo!

For a small zoo, it is great. I can tell that the staff spends a lot of time working with the animals and exhibits.

I love this zoo!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/08/05
This zoo was a great zoo for a small town even though Sioux Falls is the largest city in SD. it has very friendly staff and the animals look like they are well taken care of.
This is a great small town zoo. Very friendly staff, very clean, and overall a wonderful place to take your family. As an out-of-town visitor from a big city, I am used to zoos being over crowded, with very unhelpful and unfriendly staff. This zoo is a breath of fresh air. We would definitely recommend going, and will visit again when we are back in the area.
