I have been to Bear Country USA three times in my life - once when I was a teenager and twice as an adult with my own family. I couldn't wait for my son to be old enough to appreciate this experience. What a neat way to get close to wildlife that you normally wouldn't be able to see. Maybe not quite as thrilling as seeing a bear (or ...
We decided to stop at bear country on the way to Mt. Rushmore. It cost my carload $50.00 (the max charged) but it was totally worth it. You get to be up close to wildlife without being in harms way. The best part is getting to see many bears right out of your vehicle. We are going back to South Dakota in the spring and we will sure stop here again!! The kids loved it!!
I have never seen some of the animals here up close before! Once I went here I was just in awe at how cool it was to be this close to these animals. You get to see things like Elk, Reindeer, Goats, Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, and the list goes on and on. This is by far the coolest place I've been.... EVER!
I did not enjoy my experience at all. It was not even remotely worth the time nor the money. I was appalled at how small the enclosures were for many of the animals. Mountain lions have a natural home range of tens to hundreds of miles. At this facility, several of them are being kept in an enclosure that can be measured in feet. Similar fates ...

Wont go again

Cool... you could see all the animals without a problem. However 3 miles in 1 hr 90+ degrees with the windows up (you aren't supposed to roll down your windows) and my car started overheating because of all the slow movement. Neat to see once but I dont think I'll go back unless they figure out how to move traffic just a little bit faster...it shouldn't take that long to take a couple pictures and move on for the rest to see.

GREAT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/06
We did this because out kids wanted to see wild animals. We did get to see them. It is a great place for a family. We took a lot of time and a lot of pictures. The kids just had a blast. Our one-year-old even growled at the bears! I would recommend this to any family that is looking for fun. The price is a bit high, but worth it in the end.

Fun Bear Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/06
We have been to other drive-thru safaris but none of them offered bears. This park was VERY busy and we felt rushed by traffic. The first part of the park is kind of slow and boring but when you get to the bears it is fun. You can't roll down your windows so there is no interaction. We got to see two huge black bears fight. Lots of brown/black bears wandering around. Only took about an hour.

expensive but worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/06
it was very nice for our kids to be able to see so many different sorts of "wildlife" right up close and personal. it cost about $50 for dad, mom, and 2 kids under 10 years of age.

Great for children!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/06
This place is absolutly amazing. It is great for people of all ages! Your children will love it too. You are so close to the animals that you are able to see how they interact with one another. A wonderful experience no one would forget!!!
We were driving through the park on a hot August day and our car overheated (in the bear section). We were able to get at a safe location, and when some staff saw we had car trouble they came to our aid. One very friendly employee offered to follow us back to Rapid City to make sure we would make it OK. Very good experience and good staff. Just make sure your car is in good condition during the summer months!
